An Open Letter & Open Report - February 18

February 18, 2020

Dear Ms. Lunelle,

Around 7:00 AM, on this morning of February 18, 2020, that marks the day of my birth, and most importantly, the day that the Honorable President Jefferson Davis would deliver his inaugural speech on the capitol steps in Montgomery, Alabama, I would post the Southern Cross at the Cenotaph of War Between the States Governor, and Confederate Colonel, the Honorable Zebulon B. Vance. And, not to forget the Cenotaphs in memoriam to the Honorable General Robert E. Lee and Lt. Kerr.

I had no idea that so many knew that it was my birthday, and the delight of those gathered around unbeknownst to you, listening to you serenading me with a Happy Birthday song was as good as it gets.

There were many school buses pulling up to unload my babies at the Pack Square Museum directly across from where I stood, and I have to admit that my arms began to tire from all the waving I would do.

On this morning, not one middle finger would I see, nor one bad word would I hear. It was as if the Almighty God had instructed the many passing by to show some love to this modern day Confederate on his birthday!

I would furl my flag, hoping that it would not rain so that I might be able to sneak out for a couple holes of golf. It is a wonderful day in Dixie. God bless you!

Your brother,

HK
