Dear Ms. Lunelle,

For decades now, the citizens of picturesque City of Matthews, Virginia, will gather in the city streets to celebrate their lives and their heritage to tell their life stories, to sell their wares and to celebrate their heritage on a day they call Market Day.

I am so very proud of the invitation that the Lane Armistead Camp 1772 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans bestowed upon me; it is an honor to share in this historic event.

From the moment that I stepped from the elevator of the Quality Inn in Gloucester, Virginia, don in the uniform of the Southern soldier, I would be showered with praise and love from the guests of the hotel.

On this day, I would relive that moment many times, not only from the Sons and Daughters of the Confederacy, but also from the many citizens who visited the Camp tent and, later, there to hear a presentation from me. And afterwards, more hugs from so many, spoken praise and best wishes for good health and safe travel.

By the time of the dinner given at one of the Camp members very beautiful home, I had in my possession a very heart warming Certificate of Appreciation from the Sons, and a basket of grandeur from the Captain Sally Tompkins Chapter 2626, United Daughters of the Confederacy, with so many treasures, and looking too good to open!

Their message to me: Mr Edgerton, Thank you so much for coming to Matthews County, and teaching real History at Market Days. May God bless you and watch over you in your good works.

Capt. Sally Tompkins Chapter 2626
United Daughters of the Confederacy
Matthews County, Virginia

It was now time to cry and head for home. It had been a great day in Dixie! God bless you!

Your brother,

HK
