Mr. Edgerton,
I feel sure you will continue your noble cause. I just wanted to use the occasion of what seems to be your somewhat poor reception at Asheville Buncombe Community College to extend encouragement. Sir, 100 years from now no one will remember who Dr. Mary Motley was. H.K. Edgerton’s name and accomplishments will continue to live on. While it’s doubtful you will surpass the good works of Dr. Martin Luther King, you will nevertheless have made laudable contributions to the furtherance of racial understanding and likewise the understanding of our great and noble heritage. You are very correct sir . . . . it is our heritage . . . both yours and mine. May the Lord grant you sufficient strength and courage.
