Dear Mr. Gilson,

Slavery died out in South America in 1888. The Confederate Constitution prohibited further importation of slaves and the govt. were trying to find a way to let it die a slow death.

In fact an apprentice system was set up by the British in 1833 to freed slaves with an offer of 20,000 pounds each to owners in the West Indies. The confederacy seemed to be following suit, but the cost was staggering and would have cost over 1 billion dollars. The war on the other hand cost 600,000 Yankees and Southerners lives, plus 6 billion dollars in taxes and untold and undetermined amounts in property destruction. Lincoln, in 1864 decided to set aside 400 million for reimbursement if the South would stop hostilities. The Yankee govt. unanimously opposed the idea. His assassination put an end to that plan.

So, why just blame the South?

I would rather let it be known that the triumphant North under Sherman's bummers who stole chickens, turkeys, silverware, mules, horses and marched their booty through the streets of New York, while the Southerners were starving thanks to Sherman's bummers, as they were called (scavenger blue bellies) is more apt for discussion, since it led to a mass exodus of 20-40,000 Southerners to Sao Paulo and surrounding areas in Brazil, where they were welcome and became known as Os Confedrados.

For this history, see The Lost Colony of the Confederacy, Page 3 and beyond ISBN 1-58544-102-3. With freed slaves roaming the countryside and no place to go, except maybe back to their old master, if he even had food left for them was short of a miracle even for their survival. Did the Yankees give them a hand? Not really. Illinois and Indiana passed whipping post laws to keep them out, and ran them out if they stayed longer than three days in the state.

So much for just setting men free.

The people that laugh at the SCV or HK Edgerton or any of us today are totally brainwashed by Yankee tyranny and have no leg to stand on. All this has led to is an Empire that is responsible for genocide around the world in the name of Freedom, while economic slavery has been invented with companies like Wal Mart, etc. I know. I live in China and have seen the Chinese who work for 25 cents per hour and live in poor conditions, so that Americans back home can enjoy cheap goods.

Think about that next time you buy something that says NIKE on it.

So, the reason they are laughing at us, is because they think we are all stupid. But the time is coming. The economy will collapse and the Yankees will have to foot the bill. I am sure Southerners will eventually go their own way. For economic reasons, there may be on other choice.

Before I begin, I should let you folks know that I made a typo in my e-mail to Mr. Edgerton. I stated that I was 20, when I am infact 27.

To blame Northern's for racism is just ignorant. Because that is what I was talking about when I first e-mailed Mr. Edgeron. Believe me, many Klansmen look at Mr. Edgeron and laugh. I know this to be true because as I typed to Mr. Edgerton, I grew up around racism in the south, and many racists men....all proud southern's who love the Confederacy and wave the reb flag I might add.....did laugh at certain black people. Such as the older ones that hung around nothing but white people.

Now that is not meant to be a dig at Mr. Edgerton. I cannot stress this enough: I respect him, and truly sympathize with what black people went through in this country, which is why I want to encourage Mr. Edgerton to stop waving the Klan's flag, and wave the U.S. flag, and acknowledge that some Union troops were fighting for HIS people, and died for his people!

I have nothing against southern's being proud of who they are. I'm a southern, and I'm proud, but why not wave the flag of the United States? There's stars on there for southern's too.

I realize slavery was not a war aim, but war changes things. With that being typed, I'm currently reading this book called "The Life of Billy Yank" which tells everything from the Northern point of view in regards of the war, and while it's true most of the U.S. soldiers at that time were fighting to preserve the Union, some were infact fighting to end slavery.

Even if most of those men were only fighting to keep America one nation, they still deserve respect in my view. I'm a very, VERY patriotic person, and a huge, huge, huge, HUGE supporter of our troops.....past, present, and future, and I defend the troops of today just like I'll defend the troops of yesterday, and I can understand Northern's anger at the south for wanting to leave this great land.

Now I'm not trying to give any of you a history lesson, but it seems most of you are not interested in the point of view of Billy Yank, and have never bothered to understand him, so I'd like to give you a small preview of how most Billy Yank's saw the war. Cause believe it or not, they were not just power-hungry murderers, rapists and thieves. (That's like me thinking all rebs were racist slave owners who beat their slaves.)

The truth is, much of Billy Yank's anger started when the rebels fired on Fort Sumter, and took it over. That's what really got Northern civilians riled up! Reading their reactions immediately reminded me of how Americans responded to the attacks of Pearl Harbor, (Which the author himself references) and 9/11.

Older veterans who served in the war of 1812 wanted to reenlist just like older war veterans did after 9/11, women began sewing the American flag, people would wave the U.S. flag in the streets, people also began displaying patriotism everywhere, they'd wear U.S. ribbons and buttons, and would sing patriotic songs's, and would put American flags and other red, white, and blue symbols around their homes, schools, and business's. Just like Americans did after 9/11.....

I realize 9/11 and the attack on Fort Sumter are completely different, but it caused the exact same reaction: Anger. Americans saw it as a giant spit wad on their country, and they were not going to tolerate it. And after the attack, that was when President Lincoln of course called for 75,000 men to volunteer to fight for the U.S.A., and given how angry many Northern's were, it's no surprise so many did.

I know in this day and age, there are some folks up North that sympathize with Johnny Reb, and they're lucky they live in the year 2009, cause back in 1861, Southern sympathizers were threatened, assaulted, and belted with rotten eggs wherever they went.

The attack on Fort Sumter is the blame for all the troubles. It truly offended many Americans, and it was that attack that caused the war in my view. Also, in general, just wanting to leave this country in the first place was disrespectful to the U.S.A., the troops, and the United States flag, and I think any patriotic American would be offended at the idea of a state wanting to leave it, and attack a U.S. fort on top of it.

And there were good and bad people on BOTH sides, so to assume the war was a fight between good and evil is just ignorant and being closed-minded. If you want an example of rebel aggression, please click these links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andersonville_National_Historic_Site

As ya'll may now, I'm from Texas, and a few months ago, our governor actually wanted to leave the Union. Luckily for everyone, they did not. While I love Texas, the flag of American fly's above the Texas flag in my heart, just like it does in public places. So I cannot relate to Lee, Jackson, or any other man who wore gray, and picked his state over his country.

Good day folks.

I don't know you; but as for being a Texan, Mr Gilson, you are a misguided one and a misfit. I had an idee you were screwy when you said you wouldn't cotton to Lee or Jackson. If you haven't known that Lee always has been considered a gentlemen's gentleman by many of the damyankees, you hain't really been a knowin' what went on. And as for their picking States over country: balderdash! They were picking the oppressed over the oppressors. They were picking States' rights over yankee taxes and other economic balderdash.

But insofar as your two URLs are concerned, they really show what garbage is in your brain. To pick Quantrell (a Southern renegade) as an example of Southern fighters really is so far fetched that it resembles science fiction more than true history.

And perhaps you have not had the opportunity to visit the US Historic Site at Andersonville. The US Federal Park Service runs it, complete with Rangers; and a true picture is shown of prison camps during that Uncivil War (as well as other wars). You probably would think that the US government is lying to you when it reports that the Nazis (of WWII) killed less American POWs than did the yankees during that Uncivil War. So, if you want to point at Andersonville; be careful or you will find out that the yankees were more rotten to their POWs than were the rebels at Andersonville.

Now I realize where your yankee-minded brain was when you picked those two URLs. Hell, I might have done the same thing myself many years ago when I finished high school in Indiana. But since that time I have visited five other continents (as well as living on or by two of them) and have had a chance to learn a little bit more about history -- and from more sources than from Hollywood movies. Perhaps you also will be able to widen your knowledge; but, until that time, I suggest that you don't try to pick word battles with Southerners who have been there and done that.

w/r,

Tom

Sir

when speaking of the Klan, remember it was the result of the Freedman's Bureau and their desire to divide and conquer people of the South. and the Union League (a secret Yankee organization also played its role in the South). Today, the Klan is full of FBI instigators who still are carrying on the Union Leagues tradition of divide and conquer. They have been caught doing it. How else would someone react under harsh reconstruction laws and today, the desire to impose Yankee tyranny from Washington, DC. I am sure Goldman Sachs are laughing their butts off. Same song, different music. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

PS please look at the early 1900 photos of the Klan and note they carry the Candy stripe US flag. The US flag has flown over North america for 232-244 years (ref Pastor Weaver), but the Confederate flag, for only 4 years in one section of the country. So your argument does not hold water..sorry try again.

PSS

Furthermore, the first slave colony was in Mass..Perhaps we can draw another analogy, if someone gets you addicted to smoking, then tells you to stop smoking, and that it is wrong, you would say "but you got me started." Slavery was abolished in the North due to industrialization. They had no more need for slaves. The South was, and still is, to an extent, an agraian based economy. You feel that Northerners are not and haven't been racists? Look at the draft riots in NY and investigate carefully and you will understand Northern racism. Look at whipping post laws in Illinois and Indiana. The Yankees didn't complain about the handsome profit they made from slavery. Nor did they mind traveling down South to places like Memphis to sell them. Lee and Jackson educated slaves..Lee freed his before the war, Grant kept his after the war. so much for Lincoln's Emancipation.

Look at Lincoln's attempt to recolonize African Americans to Belize, that failed. I could go on and on and on. Look at the 5 united Indian tribes organized under Albert Pike, and Stand Waite, a Cherokee, Confederate General, and slave holder, and the Knights of the Goldern Circle. When it comes to history, There isn't much about the South that I don't know.. Slavery existed in the American colonies long before 1776..244 years to be precise..should I go on or do you concede defeat? I was in Massachusetts last year, in the hometown of Spoons Butler, the infamous General who imposed harsh reconstruction laws on New Orleans. I can tell you about racism in places like Lowell Massachusetts, first hand.

dear Zeeboe82@aol.com

Sir, you did get this sentence correct. See Webster Griffin Tarpley, PhD, 9/11 synthetic terrorism Made in America or see my article at oped news.com. Or Peter Dale Scott, The War Conspiracy, JFK to 9/11. I feel if you listened to Alex Jones at www.infowars.com you might be better informed about how the Republic is being destroyed by elite global bankers.

They are true to a Yankees heart. While it is true, that Southern Oligarchy got the ordinary folks behind the War between the states, it wasn't just slavery. It was also Lincoln's unfair taxation on the South. And thanks to Lincoln, our Constitution has been systematically destroyed, especially under FDR and his collaboration with Uncle Joe Stalin, as FDR called him (see Target Patton, The Assassination of George S. Patton, by Robert Wilcox). Mr Wilcox and I have had email discussions about this. One mistake in history that means well can set a disaster in motion. I have do doubt that Joshua Chamberlain had good intentions, but by systematically destroying the Constitution has put us where we are today.

I am sure the Northern Oligarchy wanted to protect their financial interests in the South, also. It is always a rich man's war and a poor man's fight.

These ought to keep you busy for a while, and I would appreciate it if you would read the evidence, instead of just trodding on the SCV, which are no more than a historical society.
