Hi H.K.,
Harry Hurst and myself went to Lake City, Fla., for the Civil War event. We came across the guy who was trying to be U.S. Grant. As he was trying to impress us on what he knew about history. Your name came up --- "Do you know H. K. Edgerton?" " Yes I do" I told him. He then told us about Franklin, Tenn. I told him that I had got the information on what happen by e-mail. So then he started to talk about Andersonville. I asked him if he had ever heard about "Point Lookout, Maryland" He said "No" I then educated him about what the Union did to the Confederate Prisoners there.
I then asked him if "Maryland was a Northern or Southern State?" He said "that it did not leave the Union, so it must have been a Northern State." I told him about Lincoln and what he dissolved the Maryland Legislators and put them in prison at Fort McHenry, Md. Then Lincoln placed Maryland under Marshall Law. He said "that he did not know that"
I told him that Maryland had 23,000 men that served in the Confederate Army and Navy. He said "that he did not know that". I told him that even West Virginia had farmers that worked the land in the growing season and after the crops was taken in, that they would join up in groups and burn railroad bridges up and down the Potomac River. He said "that he did not know that".
Seen if someone wants to be the part --- they should know the "Rest of the Story".
Your Friend, John Myers
