Flag March with H.K. a Success

Dear Compatriots:
Despite a small turnout from Camp 70, we did our best to escort H. K. Edgerton into Hendersonville this past Saturday on this Re-Union March Across Dixie (he will be heading to Texas again, five years after his first walk, but only walking short segments of the route this time). I think it was a success. Myself, Joe Young and Edward Drake's son Joshua (age 14) came out to serve as color guard. We had Joe's Palmetto Guard flag and three beautiful ANV battle flags, and it was a beautiful day for a 5-mile march into town. The reception when we arrived at the Old Courthouse was very warm, and we stayed at least half an hour letting folks take our picture. We also had some good dialogue with people who asked what we were doing, and no negative comments at all. Lots of folks honking and giving us the thumbs-up along Hwy. 25, which made us feel good.
We wish H. K. the best on his way to Texas, and a safe journey.
Michael Arrowood,
Public Affairs Officer
