Dear HK,

We met last year at the BGHW in Mills River for Camp 70. I not only rejoined SCV, I now serve the camp as adjutant. I heard you may be considering giving up because of the way you've been treated by some and I wanted to contact you before now but just got your address. HK, I told you then how honored and respected you are to me and that's not changed in the least. Please hang in there the work you do and the presence you share is too important to stop. I know you have to make ends meet and it's tough but the far reaching effects of your work will bring greater rewards than any in this world. So many people young and old have a better and truer picture of our heritage now because of you. I can assure you I understand what you're going through. It's tough being alone, I'm in the North Carolina Emergency Reserve and we are reviving the western regiment and as of now I'm all by myself and Brother I thought of giving up but the need is too important. I'll persevere and I hope you will as well. You can join me you know!!! Keep your uniform on it's your heritage and your birthright and keep waiving your flag and speaking your mind and I certainly along with everyone in camp 70 will help and support you as much as we can.

Please try to come to this years BGHW, it won't be the same without you. Come join our camp meetings. We'll meet April 17 at 7:00pm at Grace Bible Church on Washington St. in Hendersonville. Remember, you are looked up too by so many of us.

Your Friend and Brother in the Cause,
David Blackwelder
