From: A. C. \"Trip\" Wilson, III

Subject: Black Confederate Memorial Service

On February 17th, 2007 the Darlington, SC Camp#74 SCV will conduct it\'s 1st Annual Memorial Service at the Darlington Memorial Cemetery. The oldest black cemetery in Darlington. In this cemetery is the only Black Soldier known to have a Confederate grave marker that is at least 30 years old. Ferdinand Keith who served with Company I, of the 6th SC Cavalry. His brother, who became a State Representative during Reconstruction served in the Pee Dee Light Artillery. We will be reading off the names of 14 known Black Veterans, most were listed on the 1926 Confederate Pension List. We would like Mr. Edgerton to read those names. We have invited the Mayor and City Counsel members and are working hand in hand with the black community including the Darlington Memorial Cemetery Committee. We are a new camp with very little money in our treasury. (less than $200 total) If remittence is recquired we understand why H. K. would not be able to make it. Sincerely, thank you for consideration.<
