Dear HK,
How truly sad. You've heard the expression "It's not all black and white
- there's a large gray area". That describes our Southland. The Confederacy
was gray - it was black and white fighting side by side against the onslaught
of Northern invaders. The Confederacy is still gray, and that same fight is still
fought by black and white, side by side.
I've never met Ms. Godwin. I've only seen posts from her on various sites, and
now this she wrote below. I'm not sure where she gets her self-imposed authority
to determine who can defend our Southern Heritage and way of life. It is sad that
she can't see past her own bigotry to realize one of the most prized fighters
of our time.
I can't help but wander about something else. She made reference to your autograph
signing session, and made mention of your picture in the paper the next day ~
could it be you outshown Ms. Godwin, and she just couldn't accept that?
Defending Southern Heritage isn't about "Look at me, look what I've done"
~ its about giving our all to right the wrongs of revisionist history. It's about
teaching people what the South is/was really fighting for. It's sad that Ms. Godwin
wants to draw lines of color in that battle.
HK, the Confederacy is still gray. It always will be. I for one am glad to call
you "friend", and am thankful for your love and defense of our southern
homeland. Please do not let the petty rantings conceived from a little mind discourage
you.
For the love of the South,
Donnette
