If I am not mistaken, it was president Buchannen who actually signed the Corwin amendment on March 2nd, 1861, two days before Lincoln's inaugeration.
In Lincoln's inaugeral address on March 4th, he verbally endorsed it, and on March 16th he sent a copy of the Corwin amendment to each State Governor without endorsement or opposition.

That is correct Michael. Lincoln needed the Southern Congressmen who had left Congress to return promising that they could keep their slaves forever. All they had to do was to return, make the Amendment Law. I stand corrected. Sometimes you just get caught up in so many parts of Lincoln's devious plans, that you get ahead of yourself. It is no doubt that he campaigned in support of it. He thought this was the deal to keep the Southern States in the Union. To the dogs with the Africans.
Thank God that the Southern White men said no to this deal. However, albeit kept slavery from its permanency in America; this Stand in Dixieland for the African people cost the lives of over 600,000 people. Pure evil was leased upon defenseless old men, women and children with the blessings of this Commander In Chief of the Union Army. An army that went far beyond any description of evil in the annals of mankind. Even Hitler copied this evil, boasted that Sherman's military tactics were a valuable part of his military model.
As so many of us in the South on New Years Day have our stock of black eyed peas because we are told that its good luck to do so. Don't forget why we do so, and if they don't know why, I'm going to send them to you Michael. God bless you!
