I had the privledge and honor of walking with Mr. Edgerton when he marched through Alabama. I was blessed with good conversation along the journey. My family including my young children were able to meet him and we have a photo with him. I am writing because I now live in Troup Co. Ga. and the first day of school my 14 year old wore his Dixie Outfitter t shirt to school and was made to turn it inside out because the flag was offensive. They are not allowed to have anything with a Conferate flag at school. He can't even wear his cowboy beltbuckle because it has the flag on it. His shirt simply said "If this flag offends you, you might need a history lesson". I am proud of my heritage. I am as proud to be Southern as I am to be American. I can not see what is so offensive about our Confederate flag that is is banned from school. For years it was a part of the state flag here, will they remove it from textbooks as well? Is there anything I can do to make a stand on behalf of our glorious Condeferate flag and Southern Heritage? Will sweet tea and peaches and pecan pie be considered offensive, as they are just as much symbols of Soutern Heritage as the flag is. Please point me in the right direction to make a stand for my family.
Thank you so very much,
Kelly M Janney

Dear Kelly,
I would suggest that you contact Kirk D. Lyons of the Southern Legal Resource Center. His email address is kdl@slrc-csa.org , and I shall forward your email to him also. God bless your son, and please tell him that I am proud of him.

I am pleased to report back to you that while he still can not wear that particular shirt to school.... after talking to the principal and showing him some information I found on the internet, which included articles about you, he has decided that he can wear other Confederate items, just not that one t shirt. Thank you very much for your response and for your inspiration. The time I was able to talk with you and walk with you was very inspirational for me, you showed me my own voice and courage to stand up for my beliefs and be a voice to be heard. You are an inspiration in so many ways.

Dear Kelly,
Please send me a mailing address, and the size shirt that your son wears, and I'll send him my historic shirt from Dixie Outfitters, and have his principal go to my website: www.southernheritage411.com. God bless you.
Your brother,
