I do not know if I told you this story or not.

Two years ago we did a memorial for our fallen fire chief at the fire station in Macon Miss. It is a memorial wall with a 40 foot flagpole which the chief always wanted. I had to US flag flying awaiting the state flag of Mississippi.

The black assistant police and I were talking about the chief when I said I would have the state flag up soon. The asst chief said, “You are talking about the Confederate Flag.” I said “No, the Mississippi State Flag.” He then replied that I was talking about the confederate flag.

I then ask if he knew that the Civil war was nothing to do with freeing slaves in the beginning. He surprised me by saying, “Yes, I know that Mrs history teacher told us wrong.”

HK, Here is a black man, about 45 years old, who is admitting that his history teacher taught him wrong history! But what is more outrageous is how this teaching is so engrained in him.

How can I, a white, get through this garbage teaching?

I watch for when you will be on your march across Dixie hoping to encourage some friends to follow and hopefully be where they can see you. Perhaps they may even take a moment to listen to you.

If you are ever near Macon Mississippi, 30 miles south of Columbus I will make every attempt to be there. Perhaps we wil shake hands and share a glass of sweet tea!

Dear Billy,

I look very much forward to that glass of tea. Perhaps you can send this gentleman to my website: www.southernheritage411.com. I am somewhat surprised at his reactions to the State flag of Mississippi, especially since the large part of the Black population of Mississippi voted to keep their flag. And every time I have marched through Mississippi, I have received nothing but respect, a great deal of monetary donations from the people in the street, both Red, Yellow, Black and White, and most importantly a great show of love. God bless you.

Your brother,
