Esteemed Mr. Edgerton; I have the greatest respect for you and what you do. There are those on bothsides of the issue that seek only to divide people; You,however,offer real hope of a united people by what you do.I have asked Mr.Boswell to reconsider having you go to VAMC Memphis to see Mr. Thrasher; they declined and intend to proceed. I'm concerned that this action will detract from the issue of a veteran being abused by his care givers. If you go I urge you to obay any orders given to you by the VA staff-the VA Police answer only to the director of that station and will carry out his instrucktions no matter what. Please remember a VA is NOT public property it is controled accsess goverment facitility and since the Patriot Act went into effect they can do pretty much what they want. If you are a veteran,arrive the day before and make a health care appointment this will get you on the station.As for visiting Mr.Thrasher thats another matter they will know whats up as soon as they see your uniform. They can ,and I believe will, deny you access to him,but only for his protection(yea right).If you have an appointment it is harder for them to charge you with trespass,however, none of this protects you from unlawful protest/demonstration on goverment property.Please use caution they(the administration) will veiw you as a threat. I writing these things for you information and beniffit because I don't think others have full understanding of what they are asking you to do. This should give some preperation for dealing with these people. I had hoped when I sent out my email to have everyone pick up on th e-mail and contact thier elected officals in Washington an demand returning Mr. Thrashers flag to his bed,remove the director,and remove the two empoyees from working in patient care. While none of this has yet happened I have received e-mails from a Senator,a congressman, former President Jimmy Carter expressing their support for these demands. I have found the best way to deal with career buracrats is to have the rain come down on their heads not the other way around. Respectfuly, I am , Bill Brocker p/s if you can contact Mr. Thrashers Daughter and arange to visit him in her company you may have better luck but if they get wise she may be band from the facility. What can I say it's their facility.
