Dear Members:
I have learned with dismay that you have chosen not to invite H. K. Edgerton
to the upcoming event in Franklin commemorating The Battle of Franklin.
H. K. is a special person whom I have the privilege of knowing personally.
He is a wonderful, factual spokesman for "The South" and our true
heritage. It is a pity there are not more like him! We are a proud people and
believe me, he is one of the proudest of Southerners!
It is my understanding that the black community group in your area objects
to his presence. May I ask why! He is telling the truth, can they not deal with
facts?
I am a proud daughter of The South and the descendant of five men from East
Tennessee who served The Confederacy.
I strongly suggest you all remember who you are, why you are members of the
SCV and the purposes of the SCV! You should be very much ashamed of yourselves!
I am ashamed of you and your discourteous behavior toward this gentleman.
Hopefully, Mr. Edgerton will come to Franklin; and I sincerely hope that all
of you, as southern gentlemen, will treat him with respect!
