HK,

Thank you for copying me on your correspondence with the young lady. I continue to find it a pitiful shame that the first thing they want to blame is our Honorable flag bearing the cross of St Andrew. The youngsters that committed those crimes are not unusual among juvenile delinquents in my opinion. As a matter of fact, I would bet these young boys crimes were not influenced in the least by the flag we honor. I would even bet the adults that influence these young blockheads don't give them any kind of example to do what they did to this teacher. I see very little racism these days that would encourage this type of behavior.

I think the movies these days influence more racism with all the fighting, drug deals, shooting, and gang life that has spread all over this country. It looks like that's all Hollywood loves to show these days. TV has so much crime, delinquency, and filthy language I end up getting angry trying to find something decent when my wife, mother, and grandkids are around.

I wish this school would explain to the student body where their Rebel mascot stems from. It would be difficult to explain without getting some truth in the mix. It makes me wonder how the closest SCV camp might be received. The school board would never allow it, because it would interfere with their curriculum.

There's always going to be ignorance, but this kind of pinpoint racism should be dealt with in a fashion much harsher than what they gave these boys. These boys should have had to pay a penalty that would have taught them never to even consider doing anything like that again. HK, I think they were let off to easy, Also, I wish the school board could be taught some true history, because if the board knew the truth, they would want their students to know the truth, and then maybe our flag would receive the Honor she so dearly deserves.

Take care HK, and God Bless!

Deo Vindice,
Steve A Harless
