This week's CHEROKEE SCOUT

From: Jimbo Richeson [thegallant43d@hotmail.com]

On page 5A, of this week's (11 April 2012) SCOUT is my letter to the editor. I speak about Confederate history and heritage, which is officially commemorated each April. I also mention the open discrimination folks of Confederate heritage routinely experience. I invite the public to come and learn of our shared history and heritage, about which Brother HK Edgerton will speak on Tuesday evening, 17 April 2012, at RIB COUNTRY restaurant on US Highway 64 West. Brother Edgerton is former President of the Buncombe County NAACP. So, he knows discrimination far more initmately than any of us. During his long trek across Dixie, carrying a large Confederate Battle Flag all the way, he only met hostility and open hatred in Louisiana, by a minority of misinformed folks there. Bring a friend to hear HK share his understanding of what being a Southerner means to him. I know you will enjoy his take on things.

Jimbo.
